Making the animation…."it was an amazing thing to do"

When we made the animation, we had to press the pace button to play the video and press 1 to take pictures.  I felt nervous because I thought I was going to press the wrong buttons.  However, Lizzie was really kind and reminded me when she needed to.   I especially  enjoyed moving the people on the light board.  I learnt that if your character’s on the light board when you take the picture, it looks different on the screen.  It was an amazing thing to do.

When I pressed the spacebar I could see the animation on the screen that we had made so far. Then we pressed 1 to add to the animation.  Mostly, I enjoyed the part when we got to watch the animation because we saw what everybody else had done.  I learnt that if you move the character and press a couple of buttons, you can make something incredible.  I never knew that this was how they made Toy Story.

I was really excited when we made the animation using the computer because I loved watching it.  It’s incredible how we  drew a few pictures and then it was made into this!   Because it was fun, my favourite part was when Molly had to colour in the fire because it looked amazing on the computer.

I liked it when I moved the characters because it was really satisfying to make something so good.  I was a moviemaker – making movies about William Murdoch and it was glorious!  It was delightful!

Although it was quite difficult when I started working on the animation, I soon knew what to do and I had so much fun.

Murdoch's real house…..

Murdoch House was a great experience because it was the real house where William Murdoch lived when he lived in Cornwall. We learnt what it was like to live in the olden days and learnt about his amazing invention of making gas light by burning coal.

It was an incredible experience to be able to stand in the actual house where William Murdoch had invented something so important which actually changed the world.

I enjoyed visiting Murdoch House because it felt quite unusual to be able to go into the home of someone who we are learning about and who lived hundreds of years ago.

Candle Making at Pennoweth School

After making the beeswax candles and tallow candles, that night I did my homework by candlelight.  I was quite excited and it felt great even though it was quite hard to see.  I imagined that I was living at the time of William Murdoch before he invented gas light. Although there were some shadows, there was quite a bit of light. However, it was quite hard to see.  I imagine it would have been quite difficult. I felt so proud that I did it and it was an amazing experience!
